Ian Kennedy, professor of health law, ethics and policy at University College, London, will chair the government's public inquiry into children's heart surgery at Bristol Royal Infirmary. Earlier this month, the General Medical Council struck off two doctors at the hospital, where death rates among children undergoing heart surgery were exceptionally high.
