A new research centre will look at ways to improve detection of child abuse to help prevent future cases like that of Baby P. The Centre for Abuse and Trauma Studies is a partnership between Kingston University and Royal Holloway, University of London. Co-director Julia Davidson, from Kingston, said: "The aim is to bring together a pool of experts, including academics in criminology, psychology and sociology, as well as police officers, social workers, health workers, lawyers and teachers. They will work together on research and ways to improve training for professionals involved with children and families. We hope this will ultimately help to reduce abuse suffered by children."
