Rector charged with fraud
The rector of the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina, has been charged with breach of public official duties, mishandling of public money and fraud after the discovery of alleged anomalies in university accounts. Oscar Shubeross has been rector for 14 years.   

Nobels urge Bush to reconsider stem cells
Eighty Nobel laureates have written to US president George W. Bush appealing to him to reconsider his opposition to stem-cell research and to drop his objection to federal funding. Among the signatories is James D. Watson, co-discoverer of the structure of DNA.
