US court rules against university
A United States federal court of appeal has ruled  the University of
Georgia's admissions process unconstitutional because it gave an
advantage to non-white students.

Bus fare demonstration quashed
Riot police using tear gas and batons on Monday dispersed Sudanese
university students demonstrating at a doubling of bus fares in
Khartoum.

Students protest privatisation
Student leaders in South Africa have called on students to join a
two-day strike against privatisation, which begins tomorrow, organised
by the South African trade union organisation Cosatu. They say
privatisation has led to the exclusion of students from higher education
because their families cannot afford the escalating costs.
