Brussels, 29 May 2002

Some seven workshops will be taking place in June and July in several Latin American countries focusing on @LIS calls for proposals.

The calls were issued in March and focus on local e-governance, e-public health, e-inclusion and education and cultural diversity. They were issued by @LIS, a cooperation programme between the European Union and Latin America launched by the European Commission in order to promote both cooperation and the development of an Information society.

Discussions on how these calls will function and how they are designed to help improve the quality of life of the average Latin American citizen will take place at the workshops.

The locations and dates of the workshops are as follows:

Colombia 13-14 June
Costa Rica 17-18 June
Mexico -28 June
Peru 11-12 July
Uruguay 18-19 July
Chile 25-26 July
