Two university heads have launched a partnership designed to promote the uptake of foreign languages in the UK's secondary schools. Brian Roper, vice-chancellor of London Metropolitan University, and Paul Webley, director and principal of the School of Oriental and African Studies, launched Capital L, a consortium of eight London universities led by London Met and Soas, at the House of Lords last week.
