A college and a London university are linking up to create a new "university centre" in Croydon. London Metropolitan University has been Croydon College's validating body for higher education courses and awards for the past four years. The two partners plan to open a centre that will in its early stages cater for about 2,000 students before it eventually expands to take in more than 5,000 students. London Metropolitan said the proposal would "fulfil the longstanding desire of the borough to see a university presence in Croydon, serving the borough, South London and the South East of England more widely".
