Nottingham University astronomer Michael Merrifield got planners hot under the collar this week when he showed that a "sky mirror" art installation in front of the city's Playhouse could catch the sun's rays and frazzle bystanders and passing pigeons. The Playhouse must now erect sunscreens.
"The professor's observations have turned this sculpture into a useful educational tool," a spokesman said.
