The aims of the Marine & Freshwater Microbial Biodiversity thematic programme are (i) to improve our understanding of aquatic microbial biodiversity in the context of community interactions and ecosystem function, and (ii) to investigate the potential of marine and freshwater microbes for biotechnological exploitation.
The NERC is now inviting proposals to the final small grants round for this programme. Around £300K is available; maximum award £30K including indirect costs.
