The University of Glamorgan has launched a degree in science and science fiction. The course aims to entice its graduates into science jobs by appealing to them through analysis of science fiction creations such as the latest Star Wars movie, The Phantom Menace. "We firmly believe that, by harnessing the popularity of science fiction and allying it with the serious study of science, we have developed a degree course which will produce graduates able to convey complex information in an easily digestible format and who will have a range of transferable skills," said Mark Brake, course leader and principal lecturer. The course is thought to be "boldy going where no course has gone before" - its designers claim it is the first of its kind in the United Kingdom.
