EDINBURGH University's medical school is to have a new Pounds 38 million building. The move is hailed by the government as the country's most significant capital development in medical education for 20 years. Most of the medical faculty's clinical teaching and research departments will be sited next to the New Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh in the south of the city. The building, expected to be completed by 2002, will house about 450 undergraduates and 400 staff.
