Clare Wood and Ben Evans, research officers at the Civil and Computational Engineering Research Centre at Swansea University, experience the power of an industrial wind tunnel, used to test a supersonic car designed to break the world land speed record. The picture features in an exhibition of intriguing and entertaining portraits of researchers in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) who volunteer to promote science in schools and colleges. The exhibition of STEM ambassadors from academia and industry was launched at the Lightbox Museum in Surrey last week and will tour the country this autumn. www.stemnet.org.uk.
