Millennium bonanza for college staff

Payments of up to Pounds 500 have been agreed for staff working in further education colleges over the millennium. Staff on standby or call-out over the millennium weekend will be entitled to Pounds 250, with an additional Pounds 250 for staff actually working. The payments, which will be mainly for maintenance, security and portering staff, will be in addition to normal premium working pay, according to the staff union, Unison.
