Some university teacher training departments are far behind the best and risk losing accreditation and funds, Teacher Training Agency chief executive Anthea Millet said this week. Launching a proposed national curriculum for secondary teacher training in maths, English and science, Ms Millet said: "The reforms make it clear what we expect of our teacher training providers." They include a strong back-to-basics element in teaching literacy and numeracy.
