As new Oxford University students move in with their guitars, teddy bears and posters of Travis next month, vice-chancellor Colin Lucas will be doing something similar.
The university has purchased a property on Banbury Road to become the official residence for Oxford's vice-chancellors now that the potential length of service in the post has been increased to seven years.
The house, which is seen as an investment, includes reception rooms suitable for formal entertaining and accommodation for senior guests of the univer-sity. Similar properties in the area sell for between £1.5 and £2 million.
