A lecturer in creative industries has built an electronic drum kit that can produce the sounds of an entire band. Bryden Stillie of Napier University has used £4,500 worth of technology for the kit, which can control 140 different sounds at any one time. It has six pedals for drum and bass sounds, a mixer and trigger pads for individual notes. Mr Stillie warned that users have to be quick on their feet. "But once you've mastered it, you could play, for example, an entire Chemical Brothers-style dance tune on your own without a backing band or relying on samples. You get a really raw sound and could play a really impressive solo gig with this kit."
