The National Audit Office has ordered the Welsh Funding Council and the Welsh Office to strengthen their oversight of further education following a collapse at Wales's largest college. An NAO report published today into a management crisis at Gwent Tertiary College condemned a failure of monitoring systems. The report details how Gwent Tertiary College collapsed from a 1996 surplus to a Pounds 6.8 million deficit in 1996-97.
