Brussels, 25 Nov 2002
A new web discussion forum was launched on 25 November to coincide with the seminar 'Changing perspectives on science and television drama' being held at the Institute of Electrical Engineers in London on the same date.
The objective of the forum is to provide a space for ongoing discussion on the issues surrounding public awareness of science, and in particular, of the contribution to this that can be made by TV drama. The material that collects on the site will also provide input into the ASSEND research project that is seeking to understand the choices and perspectives of broadcasters, producers, scientists and engineers, as well as writers, concerning setting, subject focus and historical period of TV dramas relating to science.
Both the ASSEND project and this discussion forum are funded by the European Commission's Research DG under the Human Potential programme of the Fifth Framework Programme.
The forum can be accessed at the following web address and by and clicking on the button at the bottom of the page: http://www.europaws.org
