In 1999-2000, 63 per cent of female graduates in Northern Ireland higher education institutions gained either first-class or upper-second honours degrees, compared with 52 per cent of males. And 9 per cent of male graduates had pass or unclassified degrees compared with 4 per cent of females.
In total, 64 per cent of graduates were female and 36 per cent were male
