Chris Smith was duffed up quite badly in the House of Commons culture committee report on his department. The minutes of his grilling give a flavour of how seriously the committee took the probe. Mr Smith was slammed for letting the trite phrase "Cool Britannia" become so heavily used by government. "It is also the least edible of all Ben and Jerry's ice creams," the committee's acidulous chairman Gerald "Not as Nice as he looks" Kaufman added smarmily.
