The head of an oil company has given $50 million (£25 million) to a US university. Paul L. Foster, the chief executive of Western Refining, gave Texas Tech University its largest donation ever. The money will be used to found a school of medicine and will pay for faculty recruitment, salaries and equipment. The school will be sited in El Paso, where Western Refining is based.
