Brussels, 15 May 2003
A conference on ocean margin research will take place from 15 to 17 September in Paris, France.
The main aim of the conference is to promote dialogue between academia, industry, environmental stakeholders and the public on the sustainable use of ocean margin ecosystems.
The conference also aims to give better visibility to EU research activities in the offshore ocean area. One such activity is the ocean margin research consortium (OMARC), a cluster of projects funded under the Energy, Environment and Sustainable Development programme (EESD) of Fifth Framework Programme (FP5).
Organised by the OMARC consortium, the conference will also have the backing of the United Nations educational, scientific and cultural organisation (UNESCO), and the European Commission.
