Work has started on a Pounds 1.5 million three-storey extension to the library at the University of Essex adjoining the Albert Sloman Library and providing an extra 250 reader spaces. The Higher Education Funding Council provided Pounds 373,000 towards construction costs and the building is due to be finished this year.
