This week's meeting on disability held by the Committee of Vice-Chancellors and Principals and the Association of University Teachers went well for all but the hearing-impaired. The meeting room at the CVCP's new HQ has had the audio loop removed, forcing would-be users to sit at the front and lip-read. But the AUT cannot be complacent. Its office lacks wheelchair access, but general secretary David Triesman assured delegates that the union's planned new building will be accessible to all.
