Pay the local way

Tom Wilson of Natfhe tells us that local pay determination would be expensive, wasteful and wrong (Letters, THES, September 24). It seems useful to bear in mind that most firms and organisations in Britain rely on local pay determination. They seem to have found it cheap, efficient and right.
