Scientists and support staff at the British Antarctic Survey's Rothera Research Station plan to celebrate the Queen's golden jubilee on Monday with an outdoor "street party".
Jubilee decorations and Union flags will brighten the dark Antarctic winter, and a feast of crown of lamb, roast beef, turkey, chicken, vegetables and champagne will raise the temperature, which can fall to - 20C.
