Bill McKelvey, director of operations at the Scottish Agricultural College since 1999, has been appointed its chief executive and principal.
Professor McKelvey, pictured above, is an expert on reproduction in sheep and goats.
He has pioneered laparoscopic insemination techniques and minimally invasive techniques for transferring embryos, which are now used throughout the world.
