Prize for DNA pioneer

Stephen West, of Cancer Research UK's London Research Institute at Clare Hall Laboratories, has been awarded the 2007 Louis-Jeantet Prize for Medicine.

The accolade, which is worth E475,000 (about £320,000), recognises his pioneering work understanding aspects of the DNA repair process, which has yielded new important insights into the development of cancer.
