Thousands of pounds spent by universities on prospectuses and on-line information could be going to waste, according to a survey that shows less than 40 per cent of potential students actually read them. The survey of more than 1,000 second-year undergraduates by Ecctis 2000, a consortium running the government database of higher education courses, found that up to 200,000 students are unhappy with their course or institution.
