Artists and academics are inviting the local community in East London to join an open discussion about the future of the historic People's Palace this week. The venue on Mile End Road, established in 1887 as an entertainment and education hub, was destroyed by a fire in 1931. It was rebuilt and later acquired by Queen Mary, University of London in the late 1950s. The forum, on 13 March, will discuss how the venue could be dedicated to the development and presentation of contemporary performance.
