Two of three students suspended in a race row at Bell College in Hamilton may be reinstated, but they could still face disciplinary action.
The three legal studies students reportedly alleged that law lecturer Naveed Kayani had been racially abusive.
A spokesperson for Strathclyde police said: "We can confirm that police are investigating an allegation of racially aggravated breach of the peace."
