So many experts have been keen to spend their summer judging this year's research assessment exercise that the computer giving them access to the submitted papers has crashed. A notice posted at the site asks them to try to obtain outputs via an institutional library until the system is back online. "We are happy to cover any expenses incurred in doing this," it states. Great news for impoverished academics assessing work in sunny libraries overseas.
