Recent recollections of the British Library's former Reading Room suggest readers' eyes frequently strayed from their books. But some perhaps had more to see than others - or thought they did. One elderly former reader recalls sharing the Reading Room with Gandhi. "He used to dress in a loincloth," she remembers. "Of course you could only see him above the desk so he looked completely naked."
