Real-terms funding per student in higher education will have dropped by just over 2 per cent between 1996-97 and 2002-03. Figures from the Department for Education and Skills this week show that real-terms funding per student was £5,010 in 1996-97, falling to £4,860 last year and rising to £4,880 this year and £4,900 next.
