Recruitment drive to cut infant class sizes

The Government has raised the recruitment target for primary initial teacher training to help cut infant class sizes, schools minister Estelle Morris announced this week. Ms Morris has asked the Teacher Training Agency to recruit 11,500 to primary courses in 1998/99, and 19,100 trainees to secondary courses.
