The 1997 Reith Lectures will be given by Patricia J. Williams, professor of law at Columbia University in New York. The five-lecture series, titled Double Binds and Double Blinds, will look at the legacy of racism, its persistence, hardiness and adaptability and question why colour remains such a powerful issue in a largely "colour blind" world.
