The Italian bishops' conference has attacked the reform of Italy's state university system. In The Christian Community and the University, published by the conference's education commission, they say: "Our times are dominated by technocracy and models of having, producing and accumulating... only by adopting a stance that is genuinely humanistic and with courageous metaphysical openings, can the university escape technocratic insignificance."
