The much-vaunted collaboration between Scottish higher education institutions was touchingly evident at last week's UK Bologna seminar, which included a ceilidh at Edinburgh Castle. Scotland's three university principals, John Archer of Heriot-Watt, Tim O'Shea of Edinburgh and Joan Stringer of Napier, joined hands to dance an energetic Dashing White Sergeant . Perhaps English vice-chancellors could learn some lessons: a little hand-holding might patch up the divisions within the Russell Group.
