(Photograph) - Savouring a centenary: Constance Savery, one of the group of first women to receive a full degree from Oxford University, commemorated the event this week with a party at Oriel College. Miss Savery, who celebrates her 100th birthday next week, is the last survivor of a handful of women who finally received Oxford degrees on October 14 1920. With other female undergraduates she lived at Oriel during the first world war when their own college, Somerville, became a hospital for wounded officers.
