Scottish universities need more than £100 million in extra funding, according to the Association of University Teachers. In its submission to the Government's comprehensive spending review, the AUT says that 35 per cent of experienced academic staff are due to retire over the next ten years. Scottish universities will also be severely disadvantaged by the introduction of top-up fees south of the border, the union adds.
