Scots numbers rise

Student enrolments to Scotland's further education colleges have risen 25 per cent in the past three years, surpassing the Scottish Executive's target of an extra 40,000 students, or a 10 per cent increase.

The Scottish Further Education Funding Council has revealed that enrolments stand at 515,000. Its chair, Esther Roberton, praised colleges for attracting adult returners and students from deprived areas.
