The general consensus among the circling university heads seems to be that a v-c from the '94 group is the most likely compromise option. They say politicians will fear accusations of elitism if they parachute in a big Russell Group name, and a move to recruit someone from Campaigning for Mainstream Universities is deemed equally risky.
