A programme to encourage researchers to get funding from the private sector has been launched by the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council.
The Industrial Partnerships scheme will favour projects in which "strategic relevance is demonstrated by a financial contribution of 15 per cent or more from industry".
The scheme will run alongside initiatives such as the Link scheme, which provides up to 50 per cent funding for projects co-sponsored by industry.
