Alumnus to be proud of No: 95 has contrived to be implicated in the creation of a new black hole without any qualification in either cosmology or astronomy.

Kyriacos Papouis is currently suspended from his post as a trader with the American securities house Bear Stearns following the revelation of a Pounds 90 million loss at his previous employers, Nat West Markets. Mr Papouis graduated from Keele - the university, not the M6 service station - with a degree in philosophy, politics and economics which rather usefully included a subsidiary course in mathematics.
