Student support inquiry goes ahead

The Scottish Parliament is expected to ratify proposals for the committee of inquiry into student support a week today just before its two-month summer recess. The committee, set to have its first meeting in July, will have a budget for independent research. It will not have any restrictions on its deliberations, but enterprise and lifelong learning minister Henry Mcleish has warned that it must produce costed options. The committee will have a deadline of the end of the calendar year.
