The European Commission's Research DG has published a prior information notice for a call for tenders for the provision of a study on training courses in ethics in research established in scientific faculties across Europe.
The Commission intends to launch an invitation to tender within the framework of the European research area (ERA) and the implementation of the science and society action plan ethics committees.
The contract will contribute to the benchmarking of educational systems in Europe that have integrated ethics in scientific faculties' educational programmes. Both the ERA and the science and society action plan stress the need to favour the development of research and technology policies which will be responsive to societal and ethical concerns. The contract will help the Commission promote best strategies to achieve the goal described above.
The estimated value for this procurement is 40,000 EUR.

Remarks: The scheduled start of the contract award procedure is during the second semester of 2002.
