Scotland's First Minister Alex Salmond has said he is "absolutely confident" that the UHI Millennium Institute will win the title of university in the near future, after the Quality Assurance Agency said more work is needed to strengthen its structures. Mr Salmond said: "Status is not awarded by politicians but through an academic process. University titles are not given out like sweets in Scotland."
