New science minister Ian Taylor is considering setting up a group of vice chancellors and captains of industry to discuss boosting links between firms and universities. Outlining the Department of Trade and Industry's policy on science, engineering and technology last week, Mr Taylor said the UK's performance on technology transfer was "extremely patchy".
