Three more universities are on alert following the death from meningitis of three students. Stirling University has set up a 24-hour helpline following the death of a 19-year-old, while antibiotics have been offered to associates of an 18-year-old at the University of East Anglia who died on Sunday and a 20-year-old Cambridge University student who died on last Friday. Nine students have died from meningitis this academic year, three at Southampton University.
