Universities that did not get glowing reports from the National Student Satisfaction Survey have seized every opportunity to denounce the exercise as pointless and flawed. Now they have some pleasing new statistics to bandy about. An official assessment of the data found that more than 1,500 students gave the same answers to all the questions, with nearly 1,000 parroting "definitely agree" to everything they were asked. Did all the students apply quite as much rigour to this exercise as they do to their exams?
